In the present work, AISI 304 stainless steel sheets are laser welded in butt joint configuration using a robotic control 600 W pulsed Nd:YAG laser system. The objective of the work is of twofold. Autogenous Fiber Laser Welding of 316L Austenitic and 2304 Tests regarding dissimilar laser welding of butt joints made of 316L austenitic stainless steel and 2304 lean duplex stainless steel showed that the use of IPG YLS6000 fiber laser with a maximum power of 6 kW allowed to obtain sound butt joints meeting the requirements of quality level B in accordance with EN ISO 139191 standard.
