(PDF) Study on laser welding of austenitic stainless steel

In the present work, AISI 304 stainless steel sheets are laser welded in butt joint configuration using a robotic control 600 W pulsed Nd:YAG laser system. The objective of the work is of twofold. Autogenous Fiber Laser Welding of 316L Austenitic and 2304 Tests regarding dissimilar laser welding of butt joints made of 316L austenitic stainless steel and 2304 lean duplex stainless steel showed that the use of IPG YLS6000 fiber laser with a maximum power of 6 kW allowed to obtain sound butt joints meeting the requirements of quality level B in accordance with EN ISO 139191 standard.

Comparison of corrosion behavior on laser welded

Jan 01, 2021 · Laser beam welding. Comparative analysis. 1. Introduction. Due to need of reducing weight and increasing performance of various engineering applications austenitic stainless steel are employed because of exceptional characteristics such as Laser Welding Austenitic (300 Series) Stainless SteelLaser Welding Austenitic (300 Series) Stainless Steel Crossection of bead on plate weld of 3 mm thick Type 304 stainless steel. Welding parameters include 1.9 kW average power from a CW fiber laser, focused beam diameter of 125 µm, 1.6 m/min welding steel, and nitrogen shield gas. NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF geometry the selection of input parameters is very important. Laser beam welding trials are carried-out for 1.6 mm thick austenitic stainless steel for different beam power, welding speed and beam angle. The experimental trials for butt-joint configuration are conducted based on three level Box-Behnken design with replication resulting in 15 trials.

Numerical Simulation of Laser Welding Dissimilar Low

Greater stress distribution occur in stainless steel. Laser welding process was performed with speed 1m/min and output power equal to 6kW. High temperature gradient combining with differences in thermo physical material properties affect on welding results. Stainless Steels Welding Guide - Lincoln Electric3.0 WELDABILITY OF STAINLESS STEELS Most stainless steels are considered to have good weldability and may be welded by several welding processes including the arc welding processes, resistance welding, electron and laser beam welding, friction welding and brazing. For any of these processes, joint surfaces and any filler metal must be clean. Welding of Austenitic Stainless Steel AISI 304 by Fiber LaserAbstract:Paper deals with the welding of AISI 304 thin sheets with the thickness of 1 mm by fiber laser. Statistical software MiniTab was used for planning the experiment. The influence of laser power, welding speed and focal point position on width and depth of weld bead was examined. Output power, welding speed and focus point position were used as variable factors for DOE.
